A NIGHT OF THRILLS: NIGHT OF SOLIDARITY
Thank you for your presence. Your donation will help a child attend our sponsored school in an underserved area of Port-au-Prince.
The Night of Solidarity, on this Saturday, June 12, 2010, started on time (8:00 p.m.), at the Crowne Plaza Meadowlands Hotel, in front of a packed, but elegant audience. The performances were highly entertaining. The high moment was the video shooting of a rap music with hundreds of guests on the dance floor wearing their Lady Gaga dark glasses.
Before that, there were two inspirational speeches by Drs. Reynald Altema and Margaret O. Saint Fleur, followed by a short but moving award ceremony, with the honors going to Roland Antoine, MD, Mr. Kevin Slavin (CEO at EOGH) and Mr. Darrell Terry (VP at NIBMC). It happened right after the teachers of Lincoln High School, in choir, interpreted the original We Are The World of Michael Jackson.
Nai Ni Chen Dance Company was culturally interesting with their five Chinese dances. E Wynter Productions created a rousing atmosphere with their swimwear show.
Tina Turner the impesornator posed, once again, the Sheakespearian question of "What love has to do with it?", before deciding to dance with the... MC!
Did we say that Sheimyrah Mighty and Mariachi Citlalli performed during the coctail party much to the audience delectation?
The dance party started at 11:15, after the five course dinner. DJ Rudy thrilled the audience with a variety of tunes. At midnight, Tabou Combo, the unofficial Compas band of the Caribbean, took over while the DJ moved to the Crystal Room morphed into the AMHE Metro Club.
The Night of Solidarity died out at 2:00 a.m., in front of more than two thirds of the audience still present, to the tune of the Auld Land Syne (It Is Only a Good-bye). In our memory, it will remain almost as good as the Night of ... set to start on Sat, June 11, 2011, at 8:00 p.m. sharp. Just be there!
The Night of Solidarity was a fun and sophisticated soiree, under the sky of a warm and beautiful night of June. Some pictures are posted on our website. www.amhenj.org.

In the early days of AMHE, the vast majority of its members had completed their medical education in Haiti at the L’Hôpital de l’Université d’Etat d’Haïti (HUEH). In an effort to help their homeland, many of those physicians have been going back to volunteer at HUEH, teach residents and send much needed equipments.
